It’s Love at First Sit
NadaChair markets a line of unique posture supports designed to use reverse pressure from your shins to support your back. For the past 30 years, NadaChair’s posture solutions have been used by healthcare professionals worldwide to assist their patients who suffer from the strain of slouching for long periods. “The biggest market for our most popular BackUp product is computer users,” says Victor Toso, inventor and owner of the St Paul-based corporation. “We live more sedentary life-styles so it is important that we find tools to look after the important things to our long-term health. Good posture, like deep breathing, is essential to vibrant health.”
HOW DO I USE YOUR PRODUCT?
NadaChair is simple to use. All the models include a back support that has two loops that elastically or adjustably engage your shins. The idea is to harness your low back to your shins and thereby stabilize the pelvis which is the pedestal of your spine. So first, you position the back support right over the belt line and making sure you don’t twist the straps, you slide the loops over each knee and position the cushions right on the “kneeling bone”. Then you adjust to maximize your comfort. The result is perfect posture without strain.
WHAT DOES IT HELP?
What happens to the low back discs when you slouch is a lot like what happens when you bite a soft ice cream sandwich. The ice cream squirts to the front, right? Similarly, when you slouch, the lumbar vertebrae “bite” unevenly on the soft discs that separate the bones. Over time, this uneven pressure causes discs to herniate and rupture. What give the instant feeling of relief when our products are properly put on and adjusted is the feeling of the discs returning to their normal shape when the vertebrae re-assume their natural positions. Slouching truly causes spinal deformation. If made a habit through life, it increases the chance of your having to undergo treatment or surgery on the discs.
WHY IS IT UNIQUE?
While the idea of using your knees to support your back in proper posture is thousands of years old, NadaChair has made a modern turn on an ancient idea. Among the ancient records are carved images of gurus meditating with the “yoga patta” which was a straps the completely encircled the crosslegged mediator. Modern materials allow the products to work more effectively and more adjustably than possible before.
